Brazilian, carioca, cristian, composer, Nestor de Hollanda Cavalcanti has been a significant creator of Brazilian music, both classical and popular.

His works have been performed in several different musical events held in Brazil, and also abroad, in various countries.

Acknowledgement of his work has taken the form of prizes and awards granted, pieces commissioned and invitations to take up managerial and directing positions in music promoting- agencies in Brazil, such as the Municipal Arts and Culture Institute - RioArte, the National Library Foundation, and the National Arts Foundation - Funarte.

He also works as an arranger, teacher, musical director, record producer and editor.
